Pursuing the GCE Advance Level examination



The A/L exam is one of the most important exams in Sri Lanka. As a student, there are several exams in Sri Lanka. Like GCE Ordinary Level examination, and the GCE Advanced Level examination. If students want to face the A/L exam they have to get a satisfying score in the O/L examination.

            Every year over, more than 550000 students have to face the O/L examination. Most students have passed the exam every year but a limited number of students have gotten qualified to face the A/L examination.

            According to the “doenets” government website information who qualify for the A/L exam are less than 250000 students.

            The General Certificate of Education Advanced Level (GCE A/L) exam is usually held in August month in every year. It is held on the same date and at the same time on all islands with over 2000 exam places. Generally, over 300000 students apply every year for the A/L exam (Anon., 2020).

            To do the A/L exam students have to study three different main subjects, and they have to study general English and general knowledge as well. For the A/L exam students get two and a half years to study, When finished the O/L exam. After, the A/L exam is held. Generally, all subjects have exam papers to face students. Some subjects have a practical exams for the students. Generally, these exam papers have 3 hours to face. Who gets higher marks in this exam can also select for the university.

        This study present how to choose matching subject stream and what are paths of that subject stream.
