The Physical Science stream is one of five subject streams. There are several sub-subjects in this stream students can study. There are Combined Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Information and Communication Technology(ICT). Combined Mathematics and Physics are necessary subjects for studying Physical science subject stream. Students can choose one of the other two subjects for study. It can be chosen by their will and desire.
• Combined mathematics This subject is based on two subjects called Pure mathematics and applied mathematics. It has more than 40 titles to study.
• Physics Students have to study many rules and theories from different scientists in this subject. This subject helps increase students thinking ability and brainpower.
• Chemistry This subject tells students about chemicals, organic materials, inorganic materials, and how to calculate and identify chemical reactions. Percentage of students who choose each subject stream Physical science 58% Bioscience 23% Commerce 10% Technical science 9% Percentage Of Students Who Choose Each Subject Streams 8
• ICT This is a very useful subject for the modern world, because in this subject students have to learn many different machines, and programs and create some small programs using computer language.
When doing this subject stream students can apply to more than 80 courses in university. It is the largest number of courses students can apply in one subject stream. When doing a physical subject stream students can select many courses. Like Engineering, Physical Science, …
Here are some of them;
• Engineering An Engineer, or Senior Engineer, uses math and science to solve different technical problems. Their main duties include developing new products for companies or individuals to use, providing maintenance to current products to enhance their use, and designing new machines to improve an organization's efficiencies. There is 6 university in Sri Lanka that can study engineering.
• University of Moratuwa
• University of Peradeniya
• University of Ruhuna • University of Jaffna
• University of South Eastern
• University of Sri Jayewardenepura
• Physical Science A physical scientist is responsible for investigating scientific problems by conducting laboratory examinations by collecting information, analyzing existing research studies, and formulating theories. There is 8 university in Sri Lanka where one can study.
